About Footy Preds
Footy Preds is an independent, hobby-built project comparing three genuinely different
approaches to predicting Premier League matches -- a statistical model, a machine learning
classifier, and multiple AI models -- against each other and against live betting odds.
Why this exists
Most prediction sites pick one method and present it as an answer. Footy Preds is built
around a different, more curious question: do these approaches actually agree with each
other? Does a decades-old statistical technique (Dixon-Coles) really lose to a modern
machine learning classifier, or to an AI model just asked what it thinks? Running all three
side by side, and checking them against what the betting market actually prices, turns out
to be a much more interesting exercise than picking a favourite upfront. The full
methodology and what each model actually does is on the How It
Works page.
What Footy Preds is not
It's not a bookmaker, doesn't accept bets, and isn't a guaranteed way to make money from
football. Predictions are exactly that -- probabilistic estimates from three different
modelling approaches, not certainties. The market comparison and odds data are for
transparency and interest, not financial advice.
How it's built
Everything here is generated from real public data sources (see the full list on the
How It Works page), run automatically on a schedule, with
no manual intervention in the actual predictions or odds shown.
